K-Dramas shot in Gyeongbokgung Palace

Location: 161 Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul

You definitely can’t miss that emblematic palace in Seoul located in front of the giant Gwanghwamun Square! Gyeongbokgung is the biggest remnant of South Korea’s History from the reign of King Taejo in 1397 (the first founder of the Joseon Dynasty) to the end of Joseon. It survived fires, the several Japanese Occupations (that destroyed most of it) and even the Korean War.

In 1989, the Korean government started a restoration plan to give its magnificence back to that national cultural asset. Today, tourists from all over the world visit this palace, where past and present are deeply intertwined.

Plot: After a series of unfortunate events, Ddol Bok’s (Jang Hyuk) father is killed. Convinced that Crown Prince Lee Do (Han Suk Kyu) is responsible for his death, Ddol Bok swears to get his revenge on the future King. Years later, he gets himself hired as a royal guard under the name Kang Chae Yun. Upon his arrival at the palace, several murders take place. So, King Lee Do asks Chae Yun to investigate.
