If Wishes Could Kill ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Country: Korea | Year: 2026 | Episode: 8 | Channel: Netflix

Cast: Jeon So Young, Kang Mi Na, Baek Sun Ho, Hyeon Woo Seok & Lee Hyo Je
Plot: A group of high school friends discover a mysterious app named Girigo that promises to grant their wishes. But instead, they’re are all notified that they’ve been cursed to die. One of them, Yoo Se Ah, tries to reveal the truth behind the app.

Review: I was not expecting to like this drama that much, but it just embarked me. Of course, I need to warn you that this is not a drama for sensitive people. There’s a lot of blood, many horror scenes with sometimes shamanistic elements. So, if this is not your thing, don’t watch it! I personally love horror dramas, but I tend to be disappointed because they are so predictable and turn boring by the end. But If Wishes Could Kill is really qualitative. The intrigue makes sense and holds until the end, the action and the pace are excellent – I was stressed until the very last episode. Characters are well-developed and the ending was good. I think there may be a second season (I wish at least, but please don’t kill me). All in all, this is a great school horror drama that I recommend you watch if you like this genre.

Love Beyond the Grave ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)

Country: China | Year: 2026 | Episode: 40 | Channel: WeTV, Viki

Cast: Dilraba Dilmurat & Chen Feiyu
Plot: He Si Mu is the most powerful spirit, reigning over the Void. One day, she goes to the mortal realm and meets Duan Xu, a glorious general. Little by little, she uncovers his ambitions, while he learns more about her solitude. They develop romantic feelings for each other.

Review: I think the title says it all. Love Beyond the Grave tells the story of an immortal spirit and a human who’ll ultimately disappear. Nevertheless, the romance is well-developed and mixes devotion, feelings, senses, true love and fate as the overarching controlling entity that hangs over characters. I liked He Si Mu very much. She’s powerful, fair, upright and has a real transformation. She recovers feelings and emotions, while falling in love with Duan Xu. He melts her heart and makes her feel what it’s like to be human. There’s also a lot of action and a good pace in the drama. There wasn’t a single boring episode. However, I have to say that the male lead lost some of his luster. He’s a brilliant, skilled and unparalleled general at the beginning, but turns into a fragile man whose only reason to live is his lover. Secondary characters and romances could’ve been more developed. They just showed us glimpses here and there, as the main focus remained the lead couple. Other details, like the Deliverance Sword, seemed to carry a lot of importance at first, but turned out to be irrelevant to the story. As for the ending, I understand it and it goes with the objective of the drama, but it’s quite bittersweet. As a whole, Love Beyond the Grave is an excellent drama. I liked 90% of it, but the remaining 10% left me with an unfinished, unsatisfactory and bittersweet feeling that is what I remember the most from the show.

Siren’s Kiss ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)

Country: Korea | Year: 2026 | Episode: 12 | Channel: tvN, Prime Video

Cast: Park Mi Young & Wi Ha Joon
Plot: Han Seol Ah works as an auctioneer. Behind her beautiful appearance, she hides a chilling secret: all the men who loved her have died. Cha Woo Seok is an investigator for an insurance company. He begins to investigate Han Seol Ah as a suspect in a series of insurance fraud death cases.

Review: Siren’s Kiss started off quite strong for me. It was full of mysteries, secrets and there was this cold, if not creepy atmosphere that added to the weird charm of the drama. I liked how Han Seol Ah was a grey character, impossible to read. For more than half of the drama, you doubt her and wonder if she’s the actual ‘siren’ responsible for the deaths of all these men or if she’s just the victim of bad luck. The thriller/murder part was also compelling. However, I think the drama lost its magic in its last episodes. I’m not saying it was bad, but they chose to develop the storyline differently than what I would’ve wanted. I understood why they made that choice, prioritizing the romance for example, but the drama lost its spark by doing so. It had so much potential to blow our minds with a final good twist. Unfortunately, they didn’t go there. Nevertheless, the ending was correct and well delivered. But I was left unsatisfied.
