6 Badass Female Soldiers in K-Dramas

Men in uniform are sexy and attractive, but I do believe that women in uniform actually have a more impactful effect! They look badass, strong, and ready for action. Thankfully, Dramaland also features these amazing characters. Each of them shines differently and is recognized for her specific capacities. Still, they form a group we want to be a part of.

So, here are 6 badass female soldiers in K-Dramas. Any favorite? Anyone else you would want to see appear on this list? Let me know in the comments below.

P.S.: I didn’t include female police officers, detectives or members of a special squad (like Han Hyo Joo in Happiness for example), as I believe they deserve an article of their own.

Ha Ji Won in The King 2 Hearts

In this 2012 drama, Ha Ji Won endorses the role of Kim Hang Ah, a North Korean soldier and daughter of a high ranking official. Though cold at first sight, she’s actually kind, clueless and innocent when it comes to relationships.

Hang Ah is the epitome of bravery, willing to risk her life, if it means protecting those she loves and maintaining peace. A real hero in a uniform.

Kwak Sun Young in Hospital Playlist

This second lead of the hit drama Hospital Playlist made our hearts melt and beat at the pace of her romance with eccentric and cold cardiothoracic surgeon Kim Jun Hwan.
Lee Ik Soon’s job is her passion and she refuses to give it up despite her health issues and love story. Her devotion for the military is truly praiseworthy and admirable. Thankfully, she manages to find a compromise between work and love to our greatest pleasure.

Krystal in Search

Search is an underrated drama that showcases military officials tracking a mysterious creature at the DMZ. Amongst the group stands Son Ye Rim, played by the excellent Krystal. Not only is her character an elite officer with brain (lots of it, as she specializes in pathology), but she’s also a courageous and badass soldier on the first line in the face of danger. What more do you need?

Kim Ji Won in Descendants of the Sun

Tenacity is a valuable quality for soldiers, which can be used on the battlefield as much as in one’s personal life. That’s exactly the choice Yoon Myung Joo has made for herself in Descendants of the Sun. The army doctor works hard to save her colleagues’ lives, putting herself at risk sometimes, while stubbornly pursuing her lover Seo Dae Young. And it pays off.

Jo Bo Ah in Military Prosecutor Doberman

If you’re looking for badass, no need to look any further. Cha Woo In from Military Prosecutor Doberman is the perfect embodiment of the savage, clever, bold and determined female soldier everyone dreams of. Even her partner Do Bae Man, played Ahn Bo Hyun, has troubles holding her back. Prepare yourselves to see Jo Bo Ah in one of her best roles.

Kim Tae Ri in Mr. Sunshine

Her character may live in the 20th century, and she may not be your typical soldier, but still, Go Ae Shin in Mr. Sunshine is a force to be reckoned with. Though member of the aristocracy, she is not afraid to trade her beautiful dresses for a gun, and fight for the independence of her country. That’s the spirit!
